In 2019, five passionate founders in Malaysia’s escape room industry identified a gap in the entertainment sector, noticing a lack of authentic NPC experiences in existing escape games. This led to the creation of “Maze Escape Room,” equipped with NPCs and aimed at becoming the top entertainment destination for youth. As the “best and largest escape room in Selangor and Petaling Jaya,” Maze Escape Room offers a unique and unparalleled adventure experience.

Founding Phase

After extensive discussions, brainstorming, and meetings, Maze began to shape its vision for 2020. The name “Maze Escape Room” symbolizes the challenge of unlocking mental potential and encouraging the courage to face obstacles. At the core of our activities is the aim to bring people closer together after overcoming challenges, promoting stress relief and enhancing social engagement.

Blueprints

In 2021, we gradually introduced new themes, developing five exclusive concepts within a year. As our team expanded from five to fifty members, an increasing number of companies sought our team-building services. Through extensive research on the Malaysian market, we identified a gap for games accommodating over 100 participants, leading to the establishment of MVP Team Building.

Expansion

The arrival of COVID-19 posed significant challenges for all businesses, as people faced health concerns, fears of unemployment, and the psychological toll of isolation. However, these difficulties ignited a sense of unity and resilience within our team.

The Resilience

In 2025, we launched a new Maze Escape Room at Quill City Mall, Kuala Lumpur. This expansion brings immersive NPC-driven experiences to more customers and companies, offering greater convenience and excitement in the heart of the city.

An escape game is a real-life experience where participants are locked in a room and must use elements of the room, the group’s collective knowledge, and wits to discover clues, solve puzzles, and escape and/or find the missing item within a set amount of time.
You can escape the room one of two ways:

1) Solve the Clues – Use your wits, critical thinking and communication skills to work with the other players and solve the clues. Solve them all before the clock strikes zero and the locked escape room will open.

2) Ask to Leave – You might not be able to walk right out the door of a locked room escape game, but that doesn’t mean you’re trapped inside for an hour. You can ask to leave at any time. Just remember, once you leave you can’t re-enter the locked escape room.
How long it takes you to escape from the room is entirely down to your team. Each experience usually lasts between 75 and 130 minutes. This consists of a 10-15 minute brief, up to 60 minutes of game play time within the room itself and a short 5 minute debrief and photo opportunity at the end.
In order for those parts of an escape room to be utilized, you should bring a group of four to eight people. The middle ground will allow you to spread yourselves out equally, communicate without too much distraction, and focus on the task at hand.
Phones are not allowed in our escape rooms. We have a safety locker for you to keep all your belongings.
You don’t want to show up late for a game that’s all about beating the clock. All “escapers” should arrive at least 15 minutes before the scheduled game.
